Chinese Food: Chinese food dishes are something that we are trying to explore whenever we need to try out something that is not part of our daily food style. Chinese foods are filled with spices, mostly ginger and garlic, which are not always used in the Indian food style and it gives us an exposure to new tastes. Trying out new food is an exciting journey for any foodie.

Here are a Few Recipes you could Try which use Ingredients That are Commonly Available Near us. 

1) Stir Fried Tofu with Rice (Ingredients)

Stir Fried Tofu with Rice (Ingredients)

#For The Tofu 

  • 100 gms tofu 
  • 2 tsp. chili paste
  • 1 lemon grass stick 
  • 2 chopped shallots 
  • ½  chopped ginger  
  • 2 tsp. soya sauce 
  • 3 chopped garlic cloves 
  • 1 chopped red onion
  • 2 tsp. honey 
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp. refined oil

#For the rice

  • Chopped carrots
  • Chopped spring onion 
  • Salt and pepper to taste 
  • 1 chopped red chili
  • 1 chopped ginger 
  • 2 tsp. soya sauce 
  • ½ squeezed lemon essence
  • 1 tsp. clove oil 
  • Handful of chopped coriander 

#Preparation (For the Tofu)

  • Sprinkle refined oil in a pan that is pre-heated. 
  • Add chopped mariner. Stir well.
  • Add ginger, garlic, shallots, salt and pepper.
  • Add the soya sauce, red chili paste and honey. 
  • Include some coriander to the mixture and stir well.

For The Fried Rice 

  • Sprinkle olive oil on to a pre-heated pan. 
  • Add carrots, spring onions, ginger and garlic along with salt and pepper 
  • Add red chili, lemon essence and soya sauce. Mix it well. 
  • Add the chopped coriander leaves
  • Cook the mix for 5-7 minutes
  • Serve it hot

Veg Hakka Noodles (Ingredients)

  • Noodles
  • 1 tsp. oil 
  • 1 tsp. salt 
  • 1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste 
  • ½ cup bean
  • ½ cup chopped cabbage
  • ½ cup chopped carrots
  • ½ cup spring onion chopped
  • ½ cup chopped capsicum
  • 2 tbsp. green chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce 
  • 1 tbsp. tomato sauce

#Preparation

  • Boil noodles in a pan till it simmers. 
  • Add salt and oil to boiling noodles. 
  • When the noodles begins to get sticky, drain excess water and wash in cold water. 
  • Take another pan and heat about 3 teaspoon of oil
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté till it becomes golden brown
  • Add all the chopped vegetables to the pan and sauté well
  • Add the soy sauce, along with tomato and green chili sauce
  • Mix well and add the noodles to the mixture
  • Mix them thoroughly with the vegetable mixture
  • Serve it hot and add garnishing if needed. 

3) Vegetable Manchurian (Ingredients)

  • 500 gram finely chopped or grated mixed vegetable 
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs 
  • 1 cup refined flour 
  • 1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste
  • Water 
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. chopped garlic 
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 large capsicum

For The Sauce: 

  • 3 tbsp. corn flour mixed with water
  • 2 tbsp. vinegar 
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. soya sauce
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp. chopped celery 
  • 1 tsp. ajinomoto (if needed)
  • 2 cups water

#Preparation

  • Blend together the vegetables, egg, flour, ginger-garlic paste and enough water in order to make a thick batter. Leave this away for 5-10 minutes. 
  • Heat oil and pour the batter in heaped handful (if need be, shaped in balls) and fry till they become golden brown. Drain it out using absorbent paper. 
  • Heat the 2 tbsp. oil and stir-fry the chopped onions and garlics till the onion begins to look glossy. 
  • Add the capsicum and turn it around a few times. 
  • Add the sauce mix and simmer till the sauce begins to thicken and eventually become translucent.
  • Add the fried balls, turn it around a few times in the mixture 
  • Serve hot. 

4) Vegetable Manchow Soup (Ingredients)

Vegetable Manchow Soup (Ingredients)

  • 4 cups water 
  • 1 tsp. finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp. finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tsp. finely chopped green chilies 
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped French bean 
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped carrots
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped cabbage 
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped capsicum 
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped spring onion 
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped mushroom 
  • 1 tsp. pepper 
  • 1 tbsp. soya sauce 
  • 4 tbsp. corn flour mixed with a cup of water 
  • 2 stems spring onion 
  • Salt and oil (as per requirements)

#Preparation

  • Add the finely chopped garlic, ginger, green chilies and coriander leaves for about 2 minutes in a pan.
  • Add all the finely chopped vegetables along with pepper, ajinomoto, salt and continue to fry all the ingredients for 2 more minutes. 
  • Add soya sauce, water and salt. Let it boil.
  • Reduce the heat and add the corn flour mixture (with water) and stir continuously till the mixture thickens.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Serve immediately and garnish with spring onions stems. 

5) Chicken in Mahlak Sauce (Ingredients)

  • Eggs 
  • Some seasoning 
  • Oil 
  • Corn flour 
  • Chicken legs 
  • Fresh red chili 
  • Garlic 
  • Ginger 
  • Onion 
  • Red chili paste 
  • Tomato ketchup 
  • Red capsicum 
  • Yellow capsicum 
  • Vegetable stock 

#Preparation 

  • Slice the chicken in cube and marinate with garlic, ginger, chilies, eggs and corn flour. 
  • Deep fry lightly the chicken and keep it tender. Keep it aside 
  • Heat some oil in a wok and add chopped ginger, garlic, red chilies and dry chilies.
  • Sauté the chopped veggies and add the chicken. Continue sautéing. 
  • Put the red chili paste, ketchup, seasoning powder and stock.
  • Modify the seasoning with salt, pepper, sugar and soya.
  • Thicken gravy with corn-starch and serve it as hot with steamed rice.

  • Chopped asparagus (10 gms)
  • Chopped water chestnut (10 gms)
  • Chopped corn kernel (10 gms)
  • Chopped red pumpkin (10 gms)
  • Raw papaya (10 gms)
  • Chopped Iceberg lettuce (10 gms)
  • Sugar 
  • Sesame oil 
  • Ginger juice 
  • Salt as required 
  • Wheat starch and water 

#Preparation

  • For the filling, blend all the vegetables together except the iceberg and keep it away till it’s cool down  
  • Mix the rest of the ingredients along with the vegetables and make the filling.
  • For the skin, mix wheat starch along with water and make a dough.
  • Cut and separate the dough equally and use a rolling pin to make the wrap layer
  • Add the filling and mound it into the shape you want it to be 
  • Serve it hot 

7) Stuffed Eggplant with Schezwan (Ingredients)

  • Chopped mixed vegetable 
  • Eggplant 
  • Cottage cheese 
  • Corn flour 
  • Oil 
  • Chopped ginger 
  • Chopped celery 
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Red chili
  • Tomato
  • Oyster sauce 
  • Rice wine
  • Vinegar 
  • Salt 
  • Castor sugar 
  • White pepper
  • Sesame oil
  • Corn flour 
  • Sichuan pepper 
  • Stock water 

#Preparation 

  • Fill the eggplant with chopped vegetables along with the cottage cheese
  • Make a coating with dry corn flour and fry deep. 
  • Heat some oil in a wok and add the garlic, ginger, onion, oyster sauce, rice wine, chili, vinegar, Sichuan pepper and tomato sauce. Sauté the mixture. 
  • Add the stick water and alter the seasoning along with a touch of corn flour 
  • Now add the already filled eggplant, toss and turn it well in the sauce mixture and sprinkle it with spring onions 
  • Serve hot.

8) Egg and Garlic Fried Rice (Ingredients)

  • 2 tbsp. oil 
  • 1 tbsp. chopped garlic 
  • 2 tbsp. chopped spring onions
  • 1 tsp. chopped ginger 
  • 1 chopped red chili
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups cooked rice 
  • 1 tsp. salt 
  • 1 tsp. powdered black pepper 
  • 1 tsp. soya sauce 

#Preparation 

  • Heat some oil in a pan
  • Add the chopped garlic and cook until it becomes light golden. 
  • Now add the spring onion, ginger and red chili and sauté for a minute
  • Break the egg and add it to the mixture and scramble it. 
  • Add the cooked rice and mix it well with the other ingredients already being cooked
  • Add the black pepper and stir thoroughly by adding soya sauce to the cooked rice. 
  • Add some more spring onions and stir fry for a minute more. 
  • Move the fried rice to another bowl 
  • Serve hot with garnishing spring onions. 

9) Mapo Tofu with Spring Onion and Black Beans (Ingredients)

  • 1 tsp. chili bean paste 
  • 300 gms diced silken tofu 
  • ½ tsp. Sichuan oil 
  • 2 tbsp. cooking oil 
  • 1 tsp. spicy black bean 
  • 100 ml water 
  • ½ tsp. dark soy 
  • ½ tsp. red chili powder 
  • ½ tsp. sugar 
  • 1 tsp. chopped spring onions 
  • 2 tbsp. sliced leeks 
  • 2 tbsp. water 
  • 1 tsp. chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp. chopped ginger
  • 1 tsp. potato starch  

#Preparation

  • Heat cooking oil and Sichuan oil in a wok/pan. 
  • Add chili bean paste and spicy black bean and sauté it 
  • Put ginger, garlic and red chili powder. Sauté the mixture for few minutes
  • Add water and dark soy 
  • Add the silken tofu, leeks, sugar and spring onion and let it boil for 2 minutes. 
  • In another bowl, add potato starch and water to make a thick starch 
  • Adjust the thickness and add it to the previous mixture
  •  Serve it hot
